Next Steps
Congratulations on completing a carbon footprint calculation with Count Your Carbon! Once you’ve reviewed your Carbon Footprint Report and shared it with your senior leadership team and key stakeholders, you can begin building a Carbon Reduction Plan. Your Carbon Reduction Plan should outline a series of actions which you plan to implement over the next 1-3 years.
We’ve produced some resources to help you on your journey, download them below to get started.
Carbon Reduction Guide
Our Carbon Reduction Guide, developed by carbon reduction experts Arete Zero Carbon, has been designed to support you to generate a tailored Carbon Reduction Plan for your setting. This document features over sixty carbon-cutting actions for you to consider. These actions are categorised by 4 operational areas, and further categorised under several metrics to enable you to identify those which are most appropriate for your setting.

Self-led Energy Audit
This simple audit is designed to support schools to understand the sustainability of their energy practices, the key factors that contribute to this, and to identify areas within your control that you can change. It’s formatted as a checklist with points listed under sub-categories. It can be completed on a walkaround, with most questions requiring a tick or a cross. Some may need a short amount of text. The results will enable you to identify actions that are ‘quick wins’ or short term, and those that are longer term projects, requiring more investment and support.
