Count Your Carbon is on hiatus until September 15th

Count Your Carbon is now on hiatus whilst we make some essential updates, and will relaunch on Monday 15th September.

Each summer, the government updates the figures (emissions factors) we use within Count Your Carbon to calculate your carbon footprint. From 15th September, the calculator will transition to using these updated figures, to help make your results as accurate and up to date as possible.

Any reports that were not completed by Friday 15th August will be removed from the system. This is to ensure consistency between the academic year and emissions factors. If you were part way through a calculation, we recommend keeping hold of your data until the calculator relaunches when you can restart your calculation.

You will still be able to login and access previously completed reports, and The Playground.

If you want to begin preparing to complete a calculation for academic year 2025-26, then head over to the Getting Started page where you’ll find guidance on the steps involved. Please note, we will be releasing updated data gathering guidance on 15th September, so recommend waiting until then to begin gathering your data for your 2025-26 calculation.

We’ve got some great updates on the way, including:

  • An improved approach to calculating and presenting uniform emissions
  • An improved approach to calculating staff commuting emissions
  • The inclusion of electric vehicles within the transport section
  • A spreadsheet to help you gather your data
  • A methodology guide, articulating what is covered in each section

Have a great summer, and we’ll see you in September!
